However, we can claim that every feline is individual, so it’s impossible to predict which personality your new family member will have. Every cat owner knows about the cattitude felines possess, and it’s reported that tabby cats have it in spades. It is impossible not to mention their so-called “tabbytude”. Some people assume that there is a link between a cat’s coat and the mackerel tabby cat personality, but no studies confirming this fact have been conducted. What does shape the personality of a cat that looks like a tiger? It is known that such factors as breed, sex, and cat-parents’ personalities influence the temperament felines have. Dilute fawn, cream, lilac, and blue tabby.Ticked tabby coat pattern with white patches.Red mackerel tabby and solid orange stripes (cats with this coat pattern are sometimes called orange tabbies).A combination of light and dark stripes.Actually, there are various mackerel tabby colors you can encounter. Ticked tabbies, classic tabbies, orange tabbies, patched tabbies, spotted tabbies… There are so many varieties you can choose from, and they are not limited to orange color and dark stripes. Sometimes, random patterns occur.Īccording to the research of tabby pattern genetics, these random patterns arise from events that are stochastically initiated (like inactivation of an X chromosome in females or survival of a melanocyte cluster) but stably maintained, either through epigenetic mechanisms as with X inactivation, or a developmental process, as with a limited window for neural crest migration. Ta is responsible for the ticked tabby patternĪs Wikipedia states, “the Tabby gene on chromosome B1 accounts for most tabby patterns seen in domestic cats, including those patterns seen in most breeds.” TaM is the dominant gene that produces mackerel tabbies, and the recessive allele Tab produces classic or blotched tabbies.Besides, there are three genes responsible for a tabby pattern. The Agouti gene is the gene that makes up the basis of the Agouti tabby feline. A locus is a specific place in the genetic code that stores instructions for a specific trait. The genetic instructions for a tabby coat pattern are believed to be located in the tabby locus in their DNA. H ow big do mackerel tabby cats get? A striped tabby cat may weigh between 18 and 16 pounds and reach a height of up to 16 inches, depending on the breed. Their blue, yellow, or emerald eyes will definitely capture your heart. Just like other tabby relatives, these beauties feature an “M” mark on their foreheads.ĭepending on the breed, mackerel tabby felines be short-haired, medium-haired, or boast a sleek or fluffy long coat. Besides, there are “eyeliner” stripes under the eyes. On the tail and legs, these stripes are horizontal. Even, vertical stripes run parallel on the feline’s body coat, sometimes they can be broken into spots or dashed dark lines. Striped, a.k.a.“mackerel”, or sometimes referred to as “tiger” is the most common tabby pattern. Undoubtedly, a tabby appearance is striking and is quite unusual for domestic cats. You can meet orange tabby cats (these felines have a combination of the orange gene (O) and black (B) gene, causing them to be brown or cinnamon), brown mackerel tabby cats, and many orange tabbies with white or silver patches. Actually, there are different types of tabby cats. The first thing that is associated with the mackerel tabby pattern is a gray mackerel tabby with black stripes. They have a dog-like personality, that is why tabbies are perfect family companions. These cats are very intelligent, they love to explore their surroundings, play with other cats and family members, and will happily learn new tricks. Other tabby patterns are believed to have originated from mackerel tabby coloration. As the crossing progressed, the striped pattern became more and more pronounced. Mackerel was the first tabby patternĪccording to some theories, the mackerel pattern originated from a cross between a European wildcat and an African wildcat. People believed that such cats had magical powers. Known as “familiars,” these cats were thought to be reincarnations of humans or witch victims. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the word tabby was used to refer to a female cat that belonged to a witch. Mackerel tabbies are associated with witchcraftĪncient Egyptians believed that cats had “divine energy” and worshiped many domestic cats.

My curiosity piqued and my appetite followed… As my quest for Key Lime Pie continued, I heard of restaurants serving deep-fried pie and pie smoothies, as well as shops selling chocolate-covered pies on a stick? I’m a big fan of dessert so I thought I would sample a few slices and see if I could weigh in on this foodie dilemma. My eating adventures lead me to plain slices of pie and others covered with chocolate drizzle, slices of pie served chilled and slices of pie served frozen, not to mention slices topped with with merengue, whipped cream and cool-whip…but then things got weird. Upon arriving in Key West, I learned that the population is divided into two camps: there are those who believe the original recipe calls for meringue, while the other half insists it should be whipped cream. I may not have been able to narrow the search down to ‘the best pie’ (that might require a follow up visit and some more ‘sampling for research’), however, I did end up discovering a whole lot of unique variations of the dessert. I’d like to tell you that this was strictly for ‘research purposes’ as I embarked on a quest to find the best Key Lime Pie in the Keys, but let’s be honest, I just like to eat pie and when it’s listed on every single menu, it only makes it that much easier for me to indulge in a little sweet somethin’ somethin’. Confession time: during my recent visit to the Florida Keys I ate Key Lime Pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day. The third series had the same episode count as the first two combined, so each incarnation of Robin featured in the same number of episodes.Īt the conclusion of Series Three, Goldcrest was forced to pull out of the venture, due to a downturn in the fortunes of their film arm. Īt the end of the second series, Robin of Loxley is killed, and Robert of Huntingdon (played by Jason Connery) replaces him as Robin Hood. They manage to escape, and gather a team of fellow rebels to fight back against the Sheriff's authority. In the opening story, Robin Hood and the Sorcerer, Robin and his half-brother Much fall foul of the Sheriff's henchman, Sir Guy of Gisburne and are imprisoned in Nottingham Castle. As in the legend, Robin is opposed by the Sheriff of Nottingham ( Nickolas Grace) and Guy of Gisburne ( Robert Addie), as well as the Sheriff's brother Abbot Hugo ( Philip Jackson) (representing all the greedy abbots in the legends). He is also assisted by Herne the Hunter ( John Abineri). His 'Merry Men' consisted of Will Scarlet ( Ray Winstone), Little John ( Clive Mantle), Friar Tuck ( Phil Rose), Much ( Peter Llewellyn Williams), the Saracen Nasir ( Mark Ryan) and Lady Marian ( Judi Trott). Michael Praed played Robin of Loxley in the first two series. These included Robin's supernatural mentor Herne the Hunter, Robin gaining a magic sword called Albion, and the outlaws battling against black magicians and demons as well as the Sheriff and his henchmen. Carpenter also added fantasy elements to the story (which had not appeared in previous TV versions of the legend). Robin of Sherwood is one of the most influential treatments of the core Robin Hood legend since The Adventures of Robin Hood, featuring a realistic period setting and introducing the character of a Saracen outlaw. Some of the forest scenes were shot near Bradford-on-Avon. Primary locations were the Blaise Castle Estate in North Bristol and Vassals Park to the south. The show was shot on film and almost entirely on location, mostly in the northeast and southwest of England HTV West in Bristol was the base of operations, and most of the filming was done in and around Bristol and its surrounding counties. The episodes comprising "The Swords of Wayland" were transmitted as one episode in the UK on their original screening, on a bank holiday weekend in 1985. There were three series, composed of a two-hour opening episode and 24 one-hour long episodes, although the pilot is sometimes screened as two one-hour episodes. The show premiered in 1984, on ITV in the UK and on Showtime in the United States. Filming on Robin of Sherwood began in 1983. Robin of Sherwood was more expensive than Carpenter and Knight's previous series each episode of Robin of Sherwood cost around £500,000 to film. Goldcrest Films, the US network Showtime, HTV and Gatetarn agreed to fund the series. With the aid of television producer Sidney Cole, Carpenter and Knight were able to create a production deal for the show. For their next project, Carpenter and Knight decided to have their production company Gatetarn do an adaptation of the Robin Hood legend. Richard Carpenter had previously worked with producer Paul Knight on two other dramas involving historical adventure, Dick Turpin (1979–1982) and Smuggler (1981). A video game adaptation, Robin of Sherwood: The Touchstones of Rhiannon, was released in 1985. The series is also notable for its musical score by Clannad, which won a BAFTA award. Robin of Sherwood has been described by historian Stephen Knight as "the most innovative and influential version of the myth in recent times". Unlike previous adaptations of the Robin Hood legend, Robin of Sherwood combined a gritty, authentic production design with elements of real-life history, 20th-century fiction, and pagan myth. The show starred Michael Praed and Jason Connery as two different incarnations of the title character. In the United States it was shown on the premium cable TV channel Showtime and, later, on PBS. Created by Richard Carpenter, it was produced by HTV in association with Goldcrest, and ran from 28 April 1984 to 28 June 1986 on the ITV network. Robin of Sherwood is a British television series, based on the legend of Robin Hood. 8/18/2023 0 Comments Divinity original sin gift bagThis is a great talent for mages that use elemental pairs. You gain a bonus to Pyrokinetic and Hydrosophist, or Geomancer and Aerotheurge that swaps each turn. Consider pairing this further with Walk it Off for even more status immunity. This talent is great for increasing survivability, especially for those that have low physical or magic armor. You also cannot take Indomitable and Glass Cannon at the same time. This can only proc once every three turns. This should not be taken with characters that invest in Single Handed, which greatly boosts accuracy, and Two-Handed that increases the critical multiplier.Ĭharacters gain immunity to being Stunned, Frozen, Knocked Down, Polymorphed (Chickened), or Crippled for one turn. Enemy evasion is rarely an issue, so taking this talent is mostly for fights where enemies have a high chance of dodging, and then later maybe switching it out via the respect mirror. Surprisingly, this doesn’t negate backstabs making it a decent skill for rogues with daggers. Your attacks never miss, but cannot deal normal critical damage. Greedy Soul is less useful for reactionary and healing Source powers you might not use as often. The party should have some kind of synergy when using Source Skills of the same damage type, like Arrow Storm and Grasp of the Starved, which are both physical attacks. This talent is best used once your party can hold three Source Points, likely near the end of Reaper’s Coast around level 15 or 16. Whenever someone uses a Source Skill, you have a 1/5 chance of gaining Source it requires being level 6. Gladiator is even more helpful if you are able to trigger a secondary effect, such as Necromancer life steal or debuffs from your weapon. Dagger and shield rogues have the option of taking it, but it is unlikely to score any backstabs as your attacker will probably be facing towards you. Obliviously, this is a fantastic skill for an up close Strength weapon-and-shield fighter. When wielding a shield, you will make a melee counter-attack. You can also turn on the Fort Joy Magic Mirror Gift Bag and rush to the arena in order to retrain. However, this can be bypassed by not spending your first talent point, and then distribute it once in the campaign. Divinity Original Sin 2 is programmed for more points at higher levels, but due to the limited amount of experience points, it is likely most parties will complete the game at level 22-23.īecause Divine Talents are off during character creation, players will normally have to wait until level 3 for their first Gift Bag talent. If you are in a multiplayer game, make sure everything loaded and synced correctly for all players.Ĭharacters gain talent points at level 1, 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, and 33. If the Divine Talents option is locked, it means that it was previously enabled and can no longer be disabled. The game will reload (so it is a good idea to save beforehand). In the next screen, toggle on Divine Talents and then apply. To enable the talents, when in game open the main menu and select Gift Bag Features. Utilizing them will disable achievements/trophies, so consider these new talents only if you don’t care about earning them, or are on a second playthrough of the game. If you haven’t played it yet, do, because we gave it a 10 / 10 for good reason.Divine Talents are a completely optional feature. There’s also an Endless Runner icon that lets you toggle sprinting on and off, and animal empathy that lets you talk to creatures without spending skill points.Ī Magic Mirror also manifests in the Arena of Fort Joy with a Character creation level.įinally, you can plant your own Herb Garden to watch seedlings grow and spend 8 more Action Points.ĭivinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is out today on Switch for $49.99. Gift Bag 2 called Song of Nature is also available from today and includes a Crafter’s Kit to create new recipes. This is the full edition of the game which recently released on consoles, including four player online co-op.Īlso unique to the Switch version, you can use cross-saves between Switch and Steam versions of the game, allowing you to download and upload saves to play on the go.ĭivinity Original Sin 2 includes Gift Bag 1 DLC which released earlier this year with character customization options. Knock the difficulty up again to Simulator and proceedings get properly hardcore. It's a far trickier way to play because you need to focus on wrestling your plane around just as much as you do on downing the enemy but it's arguably all the more satisfying. For instance, give your plane a bootful of full rudder while you're yanking it around in a tight bank and you'll lose control. The Realistic setting takes things up several notches and the handling characteristics of your aircraft change dramatically. Messerschmitt: Harder to say correctly or harder to spell correctly? You can also toggle on unlimited fuel and ammunition, plus a variety of aids to help you keep track of enemies darting about the sky. Here you plane behaves in a restrained, predictable fashion. If you're new to flight games, or just prefer a more manageable experience, the Arcade setting will be for you. A particular strength of Birds of Steel is that it's really multiple games to different players, and this is all due to the well-designed difficulty levels. Piercing through heavy flak and arcing AA fire with the plane or chase camera being buffeted by the blasts is a measurably visceral experience. It completely lacks that sterile, detached feel you often get in flight games of this type. Coupled with the snarling engine notes, rushing air and chattering gunfire there's a well-honed rawness to the act of flying in Birds of Steel. With environmental objects whipping under your plane at all times (instead of vast tracts of painted-on nothingness) you get a great sense of velocity. The extensive ground detail contributes to the great sense of speed Birds of Steel boasts when tooling around at tree level. They look terrific from any altitude, too. The ground below is lined with thick forest and jungles, glinting oceans and rivers, and three-dimensional towns and cities. The environments too put most other flight games to shame. It may have been called a Boomerang, but it didn't always come back. Birds of Steel features an exhaustive list packed with some of the most famous planes to ever plunge through the sky, but it's inclusions like the Boomerang (and various others only ardent air combat buffs will even recognise) that best illustrate Gaijin's broad appreciation for Second World War aviation. Despite the fact only 250 of them were built (and on the only occasion a Boomerang had a chance to down a Japanese plane its guns jammed) Moscow-based Gaijin recognised the first combat aircraft designed and built in Australia as a WWII curio and included it in the game. Case in point: the team at Gaijin didn't need to ensure they included a CAC Boomerang – it's not going to sell them that many more copies of the game – but they did. Gaijin could've made do with fewer, but it chose not to. There are just over 100 classic planes in Birds of Steel. Birds of Steel feels very much like the aerial equivalent. These games have become more than simple driving games they're interactive odes to global car culture. You see a similar phenomenon in the same way games like Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo seem to almost fetishise cars. Rather, it's a game built for vintage flight fans by vintage flight fans. It isn't a game built to capitalise on whatever the latest trend in gaming is and it isn't a game built to break records. Birds of Steel isn't a game built to set charts alight around the world. 8/18/2023 0 Comments Katy perry witness liveMia Moretti, Australian musician Sia, and burlesque star Dita Von Teese. On June 9, Perry did yoga with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and hosted a dinner party with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, actress Anna Kendrick, D.J. Perry hosted a large list of celebrity guests and held dinner parties each night during which she and her guests discussed various topics, including politics. She also plans to give a concert with songs from her new album, Witness, which came out the same day as the stream began. In addition to Perry doing everyday activities like sleeping, meditating and playing with her dog, Nugget, the broadcast captures her spending time with her friends, giving interviews, hosting dinner parties and undergoing therapy. It has drawn comparisons to the reality television franchise Big Brother, although it does not feature the "confessionals" typical of the series. Tim Roxborogh hosts Newstalk ZB's Weekend Collective Saturdays and Sundays 3pm-6pm.The live stream was filmed at the Kim Sing Theatre that was set up for the event, with 41 cameras throughout and the occupants wearing microphones.Still a little bonkers, but just the right kind. Finally stripped of much of the noise of the mostly faceless band and the almost digital-like backing singers, there was Katy Perry, strumming her guitar, singing from the heart. If there's a sweet spot between the theatrics and the actual music itself, it came during 2012's Wide Awake. With Perry's easy charisma and live vocals that are stronger than many of her pop peers (you wouldn't get Britney belting out an a capella snippet of All By Myself as an ode to Celine Dion), the at times muted audience response suggests all the outrageous sets are verging on being a distraction. Unfortunately, they also serve to draw attention to those less memorable tracks from Witness like Déjà vu and Power. Teenage Dream occurs as part of a run of seven smash hits in a row (Dark Horse, Chained To The Rhythm, Teenage Dream, Hot N Cold, Last Friday Night, California Gurls and I Kissed A Girl) that remind just how hooky and fun her best work is. "I go to concerts too! You don't want the B-sides, you want the hits!" said Perry (in what was to prove a fraction misleading) after the bombastic pop perfection of Teenage Dream's title track, a song so scientifically irresistible in its structure it's even studied by university music students. Goodness!īut because of the (mostly) inoffensive joy of her long list of radio smashes, as well as an overriding image of cartoonish good times from the first half of the decade, a Katy Perry crowd is still dominated by parents and their young children. Is she a sex kitten or a heroine to pre-pubescent girls? Then at the same time as she makes public comments about wanting to make mature, "purposeful pop", she releases an X-rated double entendre that references non-food related buffets, Bon Appetit. She has bigger hits than Beyoncé and Taylor Swift and arguably broader appeal than Rihanna and Lady Gaga (but not the concurrently touring Pink), and yet in some ways, it's as if she's not entirely certain of who she wants her audience to think she is. In many ways, Katy Perry has always occupied a slightly curious place in the pop landscape. Not to mention the massive tiger, the floating planets, the enormous moving hand that appeared from nowhere, the freaky large roses, the basketball hoop fit for the BFG and essentially, every highly choreographed minute of this two-hour, Cirque-du-Soleil-meets-Alice-In-Wonderland-meets-Abba-meets-2001: A-Space-Odyssey, spectacle.Īt the same time as Pink kept adding more and more shows to keep up with her insatiable Australasian fans, Perry had last-minute tickets going for $70. There was also a moment during the sold-out Monday night show where some human-operated pink flamingos of a similar size to the Jagger lips were running around and I may have uttered the same word: Bonkers.Įvidently a little devoid in the vocab department when I'm being overstimulated like this, my scribbled notes then tell me I went and described the point where Perry's eight backing dancers were all wearing old-fashioned TV sets as heads as being "bonkers" too. Less predictably, Jagger appeared to eat Perry, without really chewing. Predictably the Mick Jagger-like lips were for Perry's breakthrough hit from 10-years ago, I Kissed A Girl. There was moment last night when Katy Perry was being swallowed whole by the biggest pair of lips this side of a Rolling Stones' concert that I leaned over to my wife and said: "This is bonkers". |
